After suffering a close loss on the road vs. rival Alabama for their first conference loss, Auburn’s road doesn’t get any easier as they travel to play Mississippi Sate in Starkville.

The Bulldogs are a feisty defensive unit and extremely veteran. They start five seniors and bring another several of them off the bench, even though their leading scorer is sub-six-foot spark plug Josh Hubbard. But Auburn can match that depth with an elite bench unit and 11-man rotation that has plenty of veteran presence and physicality to match Chris Jans’ group.

On the other hand, Mississippi State is getting positive odds in their own home building against the SEC’s first-place team and are +126 to pull off what would be a minor upset. And lastly, the over/under is set at 145.5, as FanDuel expects more of a defensive showdown.

Our wonderful buddy and stat-head Ken Pomery loves Bruce Pearl’s club this season, as his model ranks Auburn the No. 4 team in the nation as of Saturday morning. The Tigers boast top-10 units on both offense and defense and are even small favorites to score the tough road win today.

KenPom is right in line with the oddsmakers, predicting a four-point Tiger victory. He also assigns a 64% overall for Auburn to come away with a win.

Right in line with KenPom and FanDuel, ESPN’s Basketball Power Index (BPI) also likes Auburn by a little bit, predicting a 4.4-point margin of victory and an even 66% chance for the Tigers to win outright.
