Things were going relatively well for Austin Peay quarterback Mike DiLiello, and then he became part of a viral video for all the wrong reasons.

As the Governors were hoping to take the lead against Western Kentucky, an ill-advised throw from DiLiello led to a play that Sportscenter will be replaying all day. It was 1st and 10 for Austin Peay, and then Hilltoppers defensive back Upton Stout jumped the route and started going uptown.

Check out the fantastic video below, featuring an effort by DiLiello that was hilariously thwarted by the turf monster.

Welp, DiLiello isn’t on the swimming team for the Governors — but he was doing his best Michael Phelps impression with his arms near the goal line.

There’s a lot of game left for Western Kentucky and Austin Peay, but it’s obvious where the momentum lies during the matchup following the tremendous play from Stout.

Still, Austin Peay isn’t going away gently — the Governors scored a touchdown on their next drive prior to halftime, bringing the score to 21-17 ahead of the third quarter.

Moreover, Saturday marks the first time Austin Peay and Western Kentucky have faced each other in almost a decade. Their last showdown came in 2012, when the Hilltoppers took care of business 49-10 over the Governors.

Additionally, Western Kentucky has dominated the all-time series against Austin Peay, possessing a 35-6-1 record when facing the Governors. The last time Austin Peay was victorious over Western Kentucky was in 1995, when the program upset the Hilltoppers by virtue of a 38-34 win.

Obviously, Stout doesn’t want to see history repeat itself for the Governors, as his momentum-shifting play helped the Hilltoppers remain on top. However, it’s not going to be easy to put away Austin Peay, as the Governors are looking to change the narrative.

Time will tell who ends up victorious, but we have an interesting game in Western Kentucky.
