Bangally Kamara injury update: Latest on Kansas linebacker

Kansas linebacker Bangally Kamara is expected to miss a few weeks, sources told On3. The South Carolina transfer suffered a non-contact injury during practice last week and missed Friday’s blowout win over Wagner. An exact date for return remains unknown.
In Week 0, the 6-foot-2, 235-pound pass rusher recorded a strip sack in the third quarter of the Jayhawks’ season opener against Fresno State. Kamara, who is also a former Pitt transfer, finished his Kansas debut with four tackles and two tackles for loss.
But Kamara is now sidelined as he works his way back from injury. Sources did not provide specifics to On3, but a source said it was not as bad as initially feared.
“Bangally suffered a non-contact injury in [Wednesday’s] practice, and his status will be unknown for a while,” Kansas head coach Lance Leipold said following the Wagner win.

Kansas is already working through injuries at linebacker. Joseph Sipp Jr. and Jaysom Gillom have yet to play in the first two weeks of the season. The Jayhawks have jumped out to a 2-0 start to the season and visit Missouri on Saturday for a 3:30 p.m. ET kickoff. It’s the renewal of the Border War, which started in 1891 and has not been played on the football field since 2011.
“It’s a position right now that we need to get healthy at,” Leipold said. “Hopefully, we will sooner than later.”
