The Big Ten announced its all-conference team and individual awards for the 2022 baseball season on Tuesday. Maryland outfielder Chris Alleyne was named Player of the Year; Iowa‘s Adam Mazur won Pitcher of the Year; Hawkeyes star Keaton Anthony claimed Freshman of the Year; and Maryland’s Rob Vaughn earned Coach of the Year.

Alleyne is the first player in Terrapins history to be named Big Ten Player of the Year since they joined the conference in 2014. He leads the team in hits (79), RBI (73), and home runs (22), while ranking second in runs (67) and slugging percentage (1.333). His stellar play enables Vaughn to also become the program’s first-ever Big Ten Coach of the Year coming off of a 44-10 record, the best in Maryland history.

As for Iowa, Mazur is the second straight Hawkeye to take home Pitcher of the Year after Trenton Wallace won the award in 2021. In 55.2 innings pitched, the right-handed starter currently paces the Big Ten in wins (5) and ERA (2.59). Anthony is also listed as a pitcher, but has only seen two innings of work this season. He instead leads the Hawkeyes in batting average (.363), OPS (1.131), RBI (52), and home runs (13), while ranking second in hits (66) and runs (42).

Both Maryland and Iowa will be in action Wednesday for the start of the conference tournament. You can see the full all-Big Ten teams listed below.
