Blake Hinson was simply a man possessed from beyond the arc on Saturday night. He drilled all seven of his three pointers, playing a crucial role in lifting the Pitt Panthers to their first win at Cameron Indoor since 1979. Pitt defeated Duke 80-76, and after the historic win, Hinson was so excited he decided to jump on the scorer’s table and talk a little smack to the Cameron Crazies.

Obviously, the Duke students didn’t appreciate that, and they had some choice words for the superstar. Hinson spoke about it with the ACC Network crew following the game. He finished the game with 24 points and eight rebounds. The seven made threes tied an ACC single-game record for the most three-pointers without a miss.

It’s important to note that Duke was without two of their starters in Saturday’s game, Jeremy Roach and Mark Mitchell. But make no mistake about it, Pitt hit the clutch shots down the stretch when they needed them the most, including a dagger of a three by Jaland Lowe.

Blake Hinson postgame interview after the historic win

What did it feel like to stand up on the scorer’s table after one of the biggest wins in school history? “It felt great. It felt great. I think I got a couple of things I probably can’t say on TV towards me, but I enjoyed it,” Hinson said.

How was he able to lock in and put on such a spectacular performance on Saturday night? “That’s just my job. That’s my job. And I got the looks I needed to get thanks to my teammates feeding me and trusting me. And I made my shots,” he continued.

Pitt didn’t play very well when they faced Duke in Pittsburgh, getting thoroughly whipped 75-53. Did he say anything special to his teammates to get them fired up for the big showdown in Cameron Indoor? “Nah. I didn’t really say much to my team. Enough was enough is what the message was when my coach said for us all this week. The message was enough is enough. And enough was enough. And that’s how we came out here and played. So that’s thanks to Coach Capel.”

Did the Pitt team have a special mindset coming into this game? Hinson said it was all about changing the tone. “We just changed the tone of how we’ve been operating on and off the court. Just preparing for the game with a different tone. With a different attitude. And that’s what we did. So, shout out to Coach Capel for preparing us perfectly and the energy was just right,” the star forward said.
