Bobby Crosby injury update: Texas State DB hospitalized after being carted off vs. James Madison

Texas State safety Bobby Crosby was carted off the field during Tuesday’s game against James Madison with an injury. He was taken to a nearby hospital for further evaluation, according to the ESPN2 broadcast.
Crosby went to help with a tackle in the third quarter of Tuesday’s game and stayed on the ground for several minutes afterward. Both teams took knees as trainers attended to him, and he was put on a backboard before being placed onto a cart.
From there, Crosby was being transported to Seton Medical Center – nine miles from the stadium, according to the broadcast. He flashed a thumbs up as he headed toward the tunnel on the back of the cart.
Through seven games this year, Crosby has emerged as a key part of the Texas State defense. He entered Tuesday’s game with 37 total tackles, including two tackles for loss and a sack. He turned in his biggest performance last time out when he had 11 total tackles in a 40-37 loss to Marshall in double overtime.
Bobby Crosby is in his third year at Texas State after starting his college career at Cisco College from 2020-22. At the JUCO level, he had 94 total tackles as a sophomore in 2022 while adding 13 pass breakups. His 11.8 tackles per game also ranked fifth in the country. That came after a standout freshman season when Crosby totaled 78 tackles, two interceptions, two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery across seven games.
