When you dream, make sure you dare to dream big. That’s former Detroit Lions quarterback Charlie Batch’s stance. Batch played his college football at Eastern Michigan and he wants his alma mater to have a shot at landing the best transfer portal quarterback prospect available, former Oklahoma quarterback Caleb Williams. Batch let Williams know on Twitter, that if he decides to transfer to Eastern Michigan, GameAbove Capital is prepared to pay him $1 million dollars for one year in a NIL deal.

Batch is currently the Senior Vice President of Strategic Investments for Capstone Holdings, the parent company of GameAbove Capital. Give Batch credit for dreaming and shooting his shot to one of the hottest commodities in college football right now. Can you imagine Williams suiting up for Eastern Michigan? Charlie Batch is daring to dream big here.

While $1 million is a lot of money, Williams is likely to land more than that somewhere on the college football landscape. Williams was one of the most electrifying players in college football during the season. If a team wants him, they’re going to need to pay up, because in the words of Jerry Maguire, “Nobody ever said that winning was cheap.”

On3 compiles NIL valuations for athletes around the country using a number of tools. The overall goal is to quantify an athlete’s true value using a number of factors, including social media presence and on-the-field play.

Welcome to the free agency era of college football. It’s going to be fascinating to see where Williams ends up.

Williams was electrifying in 2021

The former Oklahoma Sooner quarterback had his coming-out party in the Texas game and boy was it an epic one. He led the Sooners’ to the biggest comeback in Red River Rivalry history (21 points), thanks in large part to his incredible plays with his feet and legs. Oklahoma won the game 55-48 in stunning fashion, after the Sooners outscored the Longhorns 24-7 in the final quarter.

Williams completed 16 of his 25 pass attempts for 212 passing yards, while tossing in two touchdowns and no interceptions.

As a runner, the dynamic-dual threat quarterback showed off his wheels, gashing the Longhorns’ defense to the tune of 88 rushing yards and one touchdown on just four carries.

In the Texas game, Williams unseated Spencer Rattler as the starting quarterback and never looked back the rest of the season. He finished sixth nationally in passer rating for the 2021 season and landed on On3’s Freshman All-American team.

Williams came to Oklahoma as the No. 1 overall recruit in the 2021 class according to On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He was named the MVP of the 2020 Elite 11 Finals.
