Live Updates: 4-star LB Cayden Jones' commitment ceremony

Arden (N.C.) Christ School four-star linebacker Cayden Jones is announcing his commitment this afternoon. He will between five schools: Alabama, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and USC.

According to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, the Crimson Tide have emerged as the heavy favorite to land Jones’ commitment. The Crimson Tide currently sit with a 91.1% chance to land the 6-foot-4, 205-pound defender following an expert prediction from BamaInsider’s Andrew Bone.

Jones is the No. 167 overall prospect in the 2024 class, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He also ranks as the nation’s No. 17 linebacker and the No. 2 recruit in North Carolina.

3:33 p.m. ET: Cayden Jones has committed to Alabama.

3:31 p.m. ET: Christ School head coach Chad Walker is leading the start of the ceremony.

3:30 p.m. ET: Cayden has sat down. They’re getting ready for the announcement.

3:28 p.m. ET: Jones’ family is beginning to sit down. Mic checks are being done as well.

3:23 p.m. ET: Cayden’s coach, Chad Walker, praised Cayden for who he is as a person and player. He says he’s a great teammate and leader. Walker also told me that he played over six different positions, including quarterback, during his time at Christ School. Whatever it takes for the team to win, he’ll do.

3:23 p.m. ET: I’m catching up with a couple of friends of Cayden. They were both silent on where they thought he is going. One said, “Liberty” with a laugh.

3:21 p.m. ET: According to his mother, Jones will not have hats on the table today. He wrestled with it, but ultimately decided against doing so.

3:11 p.m. ET: Jones told BamaInsider on Sunday that his unofficial top schools are Alabama, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and USC. He visited Bama on April 14.

3:07 p.m. ET: I just spoke with Cayden’s mother, Allison LeCroy. She is very excited about her son’s upcoming announcement. The process has been stressful, but the family has been grateful for every aspect of it.
