There are still a lot of talented players available in the transfer portal across college basketball, but some players are beginning to make their decisions on where to play next season. The 2022 NBA Draft is still looming as well, so the outlook for next year’s college basketball season is still likely to significantly change over the coming months. Regardless, CBS Sports has taken a look ahead with updated Top 25 and 1 rankings.

The latest Top 25 and 1 rankings from CBS Sports was revealed after five-star recruit Julian Phillips announced his commitment to Rick Barnes and the Tennessee Volunteers. Phillips turned down a contract offer from the NBA’s G-League Ignite program that was worth $800,000. He is a national top 15 player and a five-star small forward, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average.

Following the addition of Phillips, Tennessee rose from No. 14 into the top ten at No. 10 in the latest CBS Sports top 25 and 1. The Volunteers leaped a couple of teams, rounding out the top ten.

The top of the rankings feature some familiar faces, with this past season’s runner-up, North Carolina, coming in at the top spot. Houston, Arkansas, Kentucky, and Gonzaga round out the top five.

These rankings are likely to change as players finalize their decisions on where to transfer and whether or not to remain in the NBA Draft. But for now, CBS Sports has given us an interesting glimpse into the future, showing which teams could be at the top of the college basketball world next season.
