Following a pivotal Week 10 of the 2025 college football season, Danny Kanell has overhauled his Top 12 rankings. November has arrived, so these are 12 teams that Kanell believes has a legitimate shot to make the College Football Playoff through eight weeks.

His 12-team list features a new No. 1 overall team as Ohio State dropped from the top spot for the first time in two weeks. Kanell’s rankings also feature three teams that didn’t appear on his list last week.

That being said, Georgia Tech, Miami and Vanderbilt were omitted from this weeks rankings after all losing on Saturday. Here’s how his list stacks up ahead of Week 11:

1. Indiana (+1)

Indiana took the top spot from Ohio State in Kanell’s rankings this week after defeating Maryland 55-10 on the road on Saturday. The Hoosiers are currently 9-0 and three wins away from an undefeated regular season.

What head coach Curt Cignetti has done in Bloomington over the past two seasons is nothing short of incredible. It’s a prime example of how NIL and the transfer portal can turn once less desirable schools into destination landing spots for high-profile talent.

2. Ohio State (-1)

Ohio State moved down just one spot in Kanell’s rankings, effectively swapping the two Big Ten programs. The Buckeyes and Hoosiers will not meet during the regular season, though, barring any upsets these two teams appear as though they’ll meet in the Big Ten title game.

Still, Ohio State is also undefeated this season and hasn’t lost a game since last year’s matchup against Michigan. As long as the Buckeyes can get past the Wolverines later this month and the rest of its competition before — the Buckeyes have most likely already locked up a first-round bye in the CFP.

3. Texas A&M (-)

Texas A&M did not play this week, so they remain the only undefeated team left in the SEC. The 8-0 Aggies are off to the team’s best start since 1992.

When Texas A&M returns to the field during Week 11, they’ll have a chance to beat a ranked Missouri team on the road. After that, the Aggies round out their regular season against South Carolina, Samford and Texas.

4. BYU (-)

Like Texas A&M, BYU is the only undefeated team in their conference with the rest of the Big 12 hot on their heels. However, the Cougars were given some breathing room after Utah beat Cincinnati on Saturday night. The Bearcats were previously undefeated in conference play.

Two of BYU’s last four games are against Texas Tech and Cincinnati — both ranked, one-loss teams in the Big 12. Losses in either of these games could greatly derail the Cougars’ postseason hopes.

5. Oregon (+1)

Oregon has outscored its opponents 77-17 in its two games since losing to Indiana. The Ducks were on their bye this week, and will look to continue this dominant trend against Iowa on the road this weekend.

Currently one of four one-loss teams in Big Ten play this season, Oregon doesn’t control its destiny in regard to repeating as conference champions. However, if Oregon enters the postseason with one loss, they’ll certainly be in the mix for a first-round bye — potentially seeing three Big Ten teams automatically advance to the round of eight.

6. Alabama (+2)

Alabama was another team that did not play on Saturday. Though, they currently boast on of the best resumes in the country after Week 10.

The Crimson Tide have put the season-opening loss to Florida State behind them and in turn, has won each of its last seven games in the several weeks since. That includes four-straight wins over ranked opponents: Georgia, Vanderbilt, Missouri and Tennessee.

7. Georgia (+2)

Georgia emerged victorious in a closer-than-expected rivalry matchup against Florida in its first game after firing Billy Napier. However, the Bulldogs were able to win the matchup 24-20 and keep the Gators’ upset bid at bay.

They’ve now rattled off four straight wins in SEC play after losing to Alabama in late September. The loss to the Crimson Tide remains the only blemish on Georgia’s record.

8. Ole Miss (+2)

Ole Miss has bounced back from its loss to Georgia with strong victories in consecutive contests. The first being a 34-26 win over a ranked Oklahoma team on the road, while the other was a 30-14 win over South Carolina at home.

Three games remain on the Rebels’ schedule, which includes The Citadel this weekend. After that, Ole Miss rounds out its 2025 regular season against Florida (home) and Mississippi State (away) for the Egg Bowl.

9. Texas Tech (NR)

Texas Tech dropped out of Kanell’s rankings after losing to Arizona State last month. However, they’ve since defeating both Oklahoma State and Kansas State by a combined score of 85-20.

This sets up arguably the biggest game in the Big 12 to date — a Week 11 matchup against BYU at home. The winner will be the frontrunner to make the conference championship and in turn, represent the conference in the College Football Playoff.

10. Virginia (NR)

Virginia has been one of the biggest surprises of the 2025 season under fourth-year head coach Tony Elliott. They’re currently 8-1 overall and sit alone atop the ACC standings with a 5-0 record vs. conference foes.

What makes Virginia so interesting is that the Cavaliers continue to find new ways to win on a weekly basis. Three of its last five games have been decided in overtime — all of which UVA won. Saturday’s matchup against Cal (a 31-21 win for Virginia) was the only game during that stretch that the Cavaliers won by more than one score.

11. Louisville (+1)

Louisville defeated Miami and has an overtime loss to Virginia on its resume, and are playing as well as any team in the ACC through 10 weeks. The Cavaliers are currently the only undefeated team left in conference action.

That makes Louisville one of five teams in the ACC with one loss against its conference foes. The conference championship race appears to be coming down to the wire this season, and the Cardinals are firmly in the conversation.

12. Oklahoma (NR)

The Sooners bounced back in a big way during Week 10 following its loss at home to Ole Miss last week. Defeating Tennessee 33-27 on the road — Oklahoma’s College Football Playoff hopes are alive and well heading into the final stretch of regular season play.

Oklahoma now has wins over Michigan, Texas and Tennessee. When the Sooners return from their bye week during Week 11, they’ll travel to Alabama for another opportunity to prove their worth on the national stage.
