College Wrestling rankings: InterMat updates all 10 weight classes after Week 1

The first in-season NCAA wrestling rankings from InterMat are here now that Week 1 of the season is in the books! InterMat ranks No. 1 to 33 in all 10 weight classes.
The first weekend provided the NWCA All-Star Classic, while an exhibition, it;s a good look at the top guys. But there were plenty of duals and open tournaments to be had Saturday and Sunday.
So without further ado, let’s dive into the first batch of in-season wrestling rankings from InterMat. We start at 125 by getting a look at the Top 10 in each weight.
125 lbs.
1. Vincent Robinson, NC State
2. Troy Spratley, Oklahoma State
3. Luke Lilledahl, Penn State
4. Eddie Ventresca, Virginia Tech
5. Sheldon Seymour, Lehigh
6. Jett Strickenberger, West Virginia
7. Steve Poulin, Iowa State
8. Jore Volk, Minnesota
9. Nicolar Rivera, Wisconsin
10. Dean Peterson, Iowa
Ventresca beat Seymour head to head in the All-Star Classic, which didn’t officially count. Still, Ventresac comes off an All-American campaign and guns for a national title. Volk is 4-0 already and Strickenberger is 4-1. We wait for transfers Poulin, Volk and Peterson to make their debuts.

3. Ryan Crookham, Lehigh
4. Zan Fugitt, Wisconsin
5. Evan Frost, Iowa State
6. Tyler Knox, Stanford (+1)
7. Dylan Shawver, Rutgers (+1)

9. Ben Davino, Ohio State (+2)
10. Braxton Brown, Maryland (-1)
Byrd beat Shawver in the All-Star Classic and the reigning NCAA champ is off to a good start, per InterMat. Shawver got a win a day later in Rutgers’ quad meet. Davino is 5-0 already after a tournament and looks like a man possessed.

2. Brock Hardy, Nebraska
3. Luke Stanich, Lehigh
4. Zeth Romney, Cal Poly
5. CJ Composto, Penn
6. Anthony Echemendia, Iowa State
7. Ryan Jack, NC State

10. Nasier Bailey, Iowa
Hardy is off to a 4-0 start after finishing as the NCAA runner-up in 2025. Mendez beat Echemendia head to head in the All-Star Classic as he looks for a three-peat. Vombaur looks great right now as he’s off to a 5-0 start.

2. Casey Swiderski, Oklahoma State (+3)
3. Lachlan McNeil, Michigan (-1)
4. Paniro Johnson, Iowa State
5. Cross Wasilewski, Penn (+1)
6. Joshua Edmond, Missouri (+2)
7. Jaxon Joy, Cornell (+2)

Swiderski beat McNeil in the All-Star Classic in a battle of familiar faces in new places. Lamer is off to a 5-0 start in his new Nebraska singlet as well. Stiles drops a bit after a 3-2 weekend but still remained in InterMat’s top 10.

Taylor, who won the NCAAa title as a sophomore in March, is off to a 4-0 start this year. Watters won a tight one over Cardenas at the All-Star Classic with a nasty foot sweep that was the difference maker. Hipolito springs into InterMat’s top 10 with some additional movement in and around the top 10 guys.

Garvin edged Brignola in the All-Star Classic on Saturday to begin his season with a bang. This weight class might run through Mesenbrink and Caliendo once again though. Mesenbrink is pound for pound, arguably, the best in the country.

Ruiz beat Pinto at the All-Star Classic in a barnburner of a 9-6 match. Wask is 3-1 to start the year and is projected to wrestle Pinto in Navy’s dual vs. Rutgers this coming weekend. Minto is off to a 3-0 start after the weekend after coming up a weight.

McEnelly is coming off a third place finish, Welsh goes from Penn State to Ohio State and Ferrari is out of redshirt. But don’t forget about Ryder, who came to Oklahoma State from Penn State and dominated Smith in the All-Star Classic this weekend. InterMat’s rankings were all over the place for arguably the most exciting weight.

Little beat Novak in a weird overtime decision by a penalty point, so he jumped one spot in InterMat’s rankings. Barr is the preseason favorite to win the NCAA title.

Bastida beat Ghadiali at the All-Star Classic to preserve his No. 1 ranking in the InterMat rankings. Ferrari didn’t make his Nebraska debut quite yet, but is on the shortlist of NCAA title contenders. Feldman had a 4-0 weekend for Ohio State.
