Cormani McClain injury update: Florida CB carted to locker room during Tennessee game

Florida has been quite banged up in the secondary this season, and it can add another injury to the list on Saturday night. Starting cornerback Cormani McClain left the contest against Tennessee late in the first quarter.
He appeared to be hurt on a play after he was involved in a tackle on Tennessee pass-catcher Jack Van Dorselaer. It looked like McClain was rolled up on.
After giving up the 6-yard gain and a first down, Cormani McClain remained down on the turf. He was immediately tended to by team trainers.
Those trainers appeared to be performing stability tests on McClain’s left knee while down on the field. After a minute or two, McClain was able to hobble into the injury tent, where he remained for a minute or two.
Then, according to Luke Adragna of The Alligator, McClain was carted from the field into the locker room. He was reportedly dealing with a lower leg injury.
The injury to Cormani McClain will leave Florida even thinner in the secondary. And it’s a group that already had several players missing on Saturday night.

Aaron Gates, Michael Caraway Jr., Dijon Johnson and Javion Toombs were all listed out on the availability reports leading into the game. Meanwhile, Bryce Thornton was listed as a game-time decision.
On the season for Florida, Cormani McClain has accounted for 17 tackles, 1.0 tackles for a loss, one interception and one pass breakup. He’s been a regular contributor in the secondary.
McClain is finally starting to come into his own after a bit of a journey through his early college career. As a five-star prospect and the No. 13 overall recruit in the nation in 2023, McClain opted to commit to Colorado.
He spent one year there before transferring to Florida. That put him closer to home. He hailed from Lakeland (FL) Lakeland in high school, a school that has traditionally produced plenty of Florida players.
