Cormani McClain injury update: Thursday availability report reveals Florida DB's status for Mississippi State

Florida and Mississippi State are set to meet in a key SEC game that could have serious implications for both programs. While coach Billy Napier is trying to avoid the axe with the Gators, Jeff Lebby is trying to keep his squad from falling to 0-3 in league play.
The injury report could play a big factor. Florida is very banged up entering the game.
The SEC released its second availability report of the week on Thursday evening. Now we have a better idea who might be available, so let’s dig in below.
Florida Gators
Out:
RB Treyaun Webb
EDGE LJ McCray
DB Aaron Gates
RB Duke Clark
DB Dijon Johnson
DL Caleb Banks
Questionable:
RB Ja’Kobi Jackson
DB Cormani McClain
OL Devon Manuel
TE Tony Livingston
Mississippi State Bulldogs
Out:
RB Fluff Bothwell
DL Will Whitson
OL Brennan Smith
OL Blake Steen
Doubtful:
OL Jakheem Shumpert-Perkins
Probable:
S Isaac Smith
OL Albert Reese IV
Florida now has three major position where injuries are piling up, which was clear on Wednesday’s initial availability report. In total, the Gators had 12 players listed on Wednesday, with six listed as out and six listed as questionable.
Running back is a big concern. There, backup Ja’Kobi Jackson was listed as questionable yesterday after being listed as a game-time decision for last week’s game against Texas A&M. If the Gators can get him back it would be a big deal.

Already at the position Florida is down two others. Treyaun Webb has been out for a while, while third-string back Duke Clark is a more recent addition to the list.
The Gators are also now banged up in the secondary, too. Notably, cornerback Cormani McClain and safety Jordan Castell were listed as questionable on Wednesday in the first report.
Finally, Florida has had some issues staying healthy up front on the defensive line. Star tackle Caleb Banks is out, EDGE LJ McCray is out and defensive lineman Brien Taylor Jr. was questionable on Wednesday.
Mississippi State has about half as many question marks right now. The Bulldogs have four players out, including a pair of offensive linemen in Brennan Smith and Blake Steen.
That is compounded by the fact that fellow offensive lineman Albert Reese IV was also listed as questionable on Wednesday’s report. The other Wednesday notable? Safety Isaac Smith was listed as questionable for the Florida game.
