With the College World Series concluded, baseball fans have to wait months before more collegiate action. Nonetheless, D1Baseball just dropped its final top 25 rankings to provide us with some entertainment.

The rankings are wildly different than from the beginning of the postseason march. Teams like Clemson and Vanderbilt suffered drastic drops due to their failure to perform at their respective regionals. Meanwhile, Cinderella stories such as Oral Roberts rocketed up the list after shocking the nation.

While fans weren’t sure where many teams would fall on the rankings, the No. 1 spot was solidified.

LSU finished the season exactly where it started: ranked atop the D1Baseball Top 25. The Tigers captured their seventh national title, and their first since 2009, to re-ascend to No. 1 in the rankings.

“LSU was preseason No. 1 and occupied the top spot for 12 weeks before finally dropping back-to-back series in May and relinquishing the No. 1 spot to Wake Forest. The Demon Deacons were ranked No. 1 the rest of the way while winning every weekend during the regular season, while LSU headed into the postseason ranked No. 7. But after vanquishing Wake in the bracket final and Florida in the CWS Finals, LSU leaps them both to finish the year at No. 1,” the D1Baseball staff wrote.

LSU’s top spot was representative of its conference. SEC led all conference with eight programs finishing in the top 25. The ACC followed closely behind.

After asserting who finished the season atop the competitive college baseball pile, let’s see where everybody else finished in the race.
