Dallas Cowboys release first unofficial depth chart ahead of preseason opener

With Dallas’ preseason opener against the Los Angeles Rams looming this weekend, the Cowboys have released their first unofficial depth chart for the 2025 season.
Most notably included as a starter is star linebacker Micah Parsons, who publicly requested a trade from the franchise last week. Parsons, who has been named an All-Pro in three of his four seasons, has yet to receive an extension and is heading into the final season of his rookie contract.

Injured Players:
LB: DeMarvion Overshown | CB: Trevon Diggs | CB: Josh Butler | CB: Shavon Revel
While Dallas has some injuries on the defense, its offense is completely healthy for the first time in years. This includes quarterback Dak Prescott, who suffered a season ending hamstring injury in November against the Atlanta Falcons. Prescott will be flanked by wide receiver CeeDee Lamb and wide receiver George Pickens, who they acquired from the Pittsburgh Steelers this offseason.
The most interesting position battle on the offense is for the running back position, which features former Denver Broncos running back Javonte Williams and former Philadelphia Eagles running back Miles Sanders. Both veteran backs were brought in to battle for the RB1 spot ahead of rookie running backs Jaydon Blue (Texas) and Phil Mafah (Clemson).
There are hardly any surprises on the defensive side, other than the obvious inclusion of Parsons amid his contract drama. All-Pro defensive back Trevon Diggs is still listed as injured as he continues to rehab from his knee injury. He currently projects to be back in September.
As many things however, the depth chart could very well look much different before Dallas’ regular season opener against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sept. 4.
