Danny Kanell reacts to Florida upset, trolls entire SEC

Following Florida‘s stunning loss to USF on Saturday night in The Swamp, popular media personality Danny Kanell was quick to take to Twitter to raise a point about strength of schedule. Simply put: Perhaps it needs a re-evaluation.
Kanell, standing outside a pool and filming himself, quickly dove into his case. First, though, he praised USF and its coaching staff.
“Oh what a win for the South Florida Bulls,” Kanell said. “Congrats to Alex Golesh for that huge win. The South Florida Bulls look like the clear-cut leader in the clubhouse from the Group of Five to make the College Football Playoff. Incredible.”
Florida was stunned when conservative play-calling offensively led to a prime opportunity for USF. Even so, the Bulls had the ball backed up deep into their own end with a little more than two minutes remaining in the game.
Then, Florida defensive lineman Brendan Bett spit on an opposing player. It was like a match had been struck, and USF caught fire as it marched right down the field.

Eventually, a Nico Gramatica chip shot gave USF an 18-16 win. Down went the nation’s No. 13 team.
“But there is something to note about this win, because I think it impacts the SEC too,” Kanell said. ” One thing we’ve heard all offseason, ad nauseam, is how the strength of schedules were so tough. Guess what one of those stops were? Oh, you have to go to Gainesville, you have to go to the Swamp, as if it’s some magical place that’s impossible to win.
“Well, South Florida just showed you: It ain’t that tough. That’s the thing. The SEC, yes, they’re a great conference. But they’re like a lot of other good conferences. It’s not that much different.”
Florida will have a huge uphill climb now against one of the nation’s toughest schedules. Worse, the aura of The Swamp lost a little shine on Saturday.
As Kanell pointed out, home field advantage doesn’t simply grant you wins. Not in college football.
“Road environments are tough to play in,” Kanell said. “But it doesn’t make you unbeatable, which South Florida just showed.”
