This weekend, Tennessee will head to Fayetteville for the Super Regional against host Arkansas. It’s sure to be an interesting matchup between the No. 3 overall-seeded Razorbacks and No. 14-seeded Volunteers, and Dave Van Horn expects just that.

Van Horn said Arkansas will look to keep its focus on what worked well throughout this season. The Razorbacks came in as a Top-4 seed in the NCAA baseball tournament before winning the Fayetteville Regional, and they will now prepare to host a Super Regional with a spot in the College World Series on the line.

Van Horn also expects an “electric” atmosphere at Baum-Walker Stadium. Additionally, Tennessee and Arkansas already played earlier this year, so there’s plenty of familiarity.

“It would be 80%, we need to do what we do well,” Van Horn said of the series on SiriusXM College Sports Radio. “And we just need to fine-tune that. You just don’t want the players to kind of think that the coaches are in a little bit of a panic mode because we’re doing all kinds of stuff we haven’t done all year. Just keep doing what you’re doing, try to be as prepared as you can for the team that’s coming in. In this case, we’ve played each other a three-game series. We’ve seen them play a game in the tournament. We know what they do, we know what they do well, and that’s pitch and score. We know what we do well. If both teams are doing that well, it’s going to be an incredible series.

“The atmosphere should be electric. The weather here this week has been in-and-out rain, windy and warm, storms. But once we get through Friday night, it looks like the weather’s going to be pretty nice – upper 70s, 80 degrees. Should be a situation where offensively, both teams won’t be stopped much by the weather, so to speak. It’s going to be a little nutty.”

In the final series of the regular season, Arkansas took two games out of three from Tennessee, including an 8-4 victory to close things out. The Razorbacks then fell to Ole Miss in their first game of the SEC Tournament, but bounced back with three straight wins in the Fayetteville Regional – including an 8-3 win over Creighton on Sunday to secure a spot in the Super Regional.

Tennessee and Arkansas will get the Fayetteville Super Regional underway Saturday evening. First pitch is set for 5 p.m. ET on ESPN.
