David Pollack overhauls College Football Playoff projections after Week 9

College football analyst David Pollack released his updated College Football Playoff projection after Week 9 of the season. He overhauled his bracket!
Pollack revealed his 12-team bracket on his podcast: See Ball Get Ball. We have plenty of college football left, but this bracket looks pretty darn fun!
So, let’s dive into the latest College Football Playoff projections as we prepare to hit November. We start with the first matchup in the first round.
College Football Playoff First Round Game #1
No. 12 Memphis at No. 5 Georgia
Memphis gets the G5 spot from Pollack this week and get into the College Football Playoff this week. They’ll have to hit the road in a brutal spot though.
Georgia is still sitting pretty high up the bracket after a bye week. They’re not the projected SEC champs, but they have a nice path in this spot.
College Football Playoff First Round Game #2

No. 11 Ole Miss at No. 6 Miami
Ole Miss is back on the winning end of things, but the Rebels get the 11-seed in Pollack’s College Football Playoff projections. Lane Kiffin could very well finally make the bracket and even on the road, this is a dangerous team.
This is a fun matchup though, as they head down south. The Hurricanes are the projected ACC champs in this prediction, getting a home game in the first round. But they’re not the only team from their conference!
College Football Playoff First Round Game #3
The west coast matchup is a good one as Oregon gets back to the College Football Playoff for Pollack. They’ll host though, even if they end up being the No. 3 team in the Big Ten.
BYU is 8-0 this year and the projected Big 12 participant in the CFP. Right now they’re ahead of Texas Tech, but that could very well flip in a couple of weeks when the two teams square off.
College Football Playoff First Round Game #4
No. 9 Georgia Tech at No. 8 Vanderbilt
The other ACC team referenced above is Georgia Tech, which currently sits at 8-0 on the season. Pollack has both making the College Football Playoff but GT gets a road game to another CFP newbie.
Vanderbilt just keeps winning. They went from a nice story to a legit playoff threat. At 7-1, the Commodores could be a sneaky pick to make a run at this point.

No. 1 Indiana vs. TBD

Pollack has Indiana as the top seed in the College Football Playoff this week. The Hoosiers blasted UCLA at home, putting up 50+ points again.
Curt Cignetti being only three wins away from a national title at Indiana wouldn’t be surprising at this rate. Last year? Sure. This year? They are becoming a juggernaut.
No. 2 Ohio State vs. TBD
The top two seeds are Big Ten teams in Pollack’s College Football Playoff projections this week. Ohio State had a week off, so it’s easy to not get swept up on how good they are.
But this team is arguably better than last year’s national title squad. Getting a first-round bye gets them closer to a repeat. It’s easy to see why with QB Julian Sayin, WR Jeremiah Smith, RB Bo Jackson, LB Arvell Reese and DB Caleb Downs. Should we just name the whole roster?
No. 3 Texas A&M vs. TBD
Texas A&M is the projected SEC champion for Pollack’s College Football Playoff predictions. The Aggies, like a couple of other teams in this bracket, just keep winning.
Mike Elko has this team at 8-0 on the year and rolling. They have ranked matchups with Missouri and Texas in two of their final four games though. If they get through unscathed, they could have the No. 1 seed before it’s all said and done.
No. 4 Alabama vs. TBD

And to round things out, the Crimson Tide get the final bye per Pollack. Alabama will get to the College Football Playoff for the first time under Kalen DeBoer.
They’re the projected SEC runner-ups to Texas A&M right now. But winning seven in a row? It wouldn’t surprise us to see this run continue.
