David Pollack reveals his latest College Football Playoff projection after Week 4

College football analyst David Pollack revealed his latest College Football Playoff projections following Week 4. There’s a decent sample size now, so we can get an idea of how this CFP bracket will look this year.
We’ll tell you this, Pollack’s top four looks drastically different from top four groupings we’ve seen in the past. As far as balance is concerned, there are four SEC teams, four Big Ten teams, two ACC teams and one Big 12 and Group of Five team each.
So let’s dive into Pollack’s College Football Playoff projections as we get into the second third of the season. We start with the first round games.
College Football Playoff First Round Game #1
No. 12 Memphis at No. 5 Georgia
Pollack has the Tigers grabbing the Group of Five spot in the College Football Playoff and the final seed. No USF love?! In all seriousness, Memphis is 4-0 and ahead of the Bulls currently, though neither are ranked.
Georgia is ranked No. 5 in the country, so the seeding makes sense! As far as Pollack’s projections are concerned, the Bulldogs are the projected runner-up in the SEC behind one team who has a first round bye.
College Football Playoff First Round Game #2

No. 11 Texas Tech at No. 6 LSU
Big 12 Champion Texas Tech makes the College Football Playoff for the first time in their program’s history. With their performance vs. Utah over the weekend, it seems like they are the most well rounded team in the conference.
LSU is the third SEC team to make the CFP in Pollack’s projections. The Tigers make it for the first time under Brian Kelly so the hot start to the season will continue.
College Football Playoff First Round Game #3
No. 10 Indiana at No. 7 Oregon
The Hoosiers blasted Illinois 63-10, so yeah, we’re thinking Indiana might make it back to the College Football Playoff. Pollack has Curt Cignetti’s crew as one of four from the Big Ten making it in.
They’d have to travel to Eugene, again, based on the projections. Oregon returns to the dance but falls short of a Big Ten Championship crown based on these seedings.
College Football Playoff First Round Game #4
No. 9 Texas A&M at No. 8 Penn State
Mike Elko will lead Texas A&M to the College Football Playoff for the first time. They’re off to a 3-0 start, so things bode well right now.
But, they’ll hit the road in the first round to play Penn State, which gets a first round home game for the second straight year. Based on seedings, it looks like the Nittany Lions won’t get back to the Big Ten title game.

No. 1 Miami vs. TBD

Miami grabs the top seed in the College Football Playoff, per Pollack. The Hurricanes are projected, likely, to go undefeated and win the ACC.
Led by QB Carson Beck, Miami has another Heisman contender. The run game is stout and the defense is suffocating. It’d be stunning to not see them in the CFP at this point.
No. 2 Ohio State vs. TBD
The Buckeyes are back on top! Almost anyway. Ohio State is the projected Big Ten champion in this projection and have a first round bye in the College Football Playoff.
If they are undefeated, there’s reason to believe they’d be ahead of Miami. But perhaps they slip up somewhere. Either way, they have a path to repeat.
No. 3 Oklahoma vs. TBD
What a turnaround for the Sooners in 2025, at least so far. Brent Venables and Oklahoma will be headed to the College Football Playoff as SEC Champions, per Pollack.
The Red River game vs. Texas will be massive. Funny enough, the Longhorns are projected to miss the CFP right now! But Oklahoma has a chance to make a massive statement in the coming weeks.
No. 4 Florida State vs. TBD

How about two ACC teams in the top four? Most would say that would happen with the Big Ten or SEC, but this is a new day for the College Football Playoff.
The Seminoles might be in a wait-and-see approach for some, but this is a different squad than the two-win one from last year. The game against Miami to kickoff October will tell a lot.
