College football analyst David Pollack released his updated College Football Playoff projection after Week 7 of the season. He even has a new No. 2 seed!

Pollack revealed his 12-team bracket on his podcast: See Ball Get Ball. We have plenty of college football left, but this bracket looks pretty darn fun!

So, let’s dive into the latest College Football Playoff projections as we hit the halfway point of the year. We start with the first matchup in the first round.

College Football Playoff First Round Game #1

No. 12 USF at No. 5 Ole Miss

South Florida is still in Pollack’s College Football Playoff projections as the Group of Five representative. They had a conference game with unbeaten North Texas and throttled them 63-36 on the road!

Ole Miss will play host in this first round game. As of now, this is Pollack’s projected runner up in the SEC after getting a bye last week.

No. 11 Oklahoma at No. 6 Texas Tech

Oklahoma lost in John Mateer’s return from injury, early or not. The Sooners are no longer unbeaten with the loss to Texas but Pollack still has them as an at-large in the College Football Playoff.

Texas Tech gets into the dance as the Big 12 champs and will host the Sooners in the first round. Behren Morton, Will Hammond, doesn’t matter. Texas Tech rolls at QB and everywhere else.

College Football Playoff First Round Game #3

No. 10 LSU at No. 7 Alabama

An all-SEC matchup in the first round of the College Football Playoff. But right now, Alabama has the inside track to a home game over LSU at this point. They’ve won five in a row.

LSU has ranked matchups three games in a row, over the course of the next four weeks. They hit the road vs. Vanderbilt, host Texas A&M and then go to Alabama after a bye week. Make or break stretch here.

College Football Playoff First Round Game #4

No. 9 Oregon at No. 8 Georgia

Oregon suffered its first loss of the season to Indiana (more on that later). So they drop down to a road game in Pollack’s College Football Playoff projections.

Dan Lanning hitting the road to face his old boss Kirby Smart is cinema. Georgia is good enough for a home game in the CFP right now but should still be in contention for the SEC title.

No. 1 Miami vs. TBD

Miami remained the top seed in Pollack’s College Football Playoff projections after Week 7. At 5-0, they have Louisville at home Friday night.

Carson Beck is a Heisman contender and Mario Cristobal might have his best squad. Debate it all you want, but this might be the best team in the country.

No. 2 Indiana vs. TBD

And the reason why we said that about Miami is because Indiana has surpassed Ohio State! Pollack has the Hoosiers winning the Big Ten and grabbing the No. 2 seed in the College Football Playoff.

That was the biggest change this week after Indiana improved to 6-0 on the year after beating Oregon on the road. You might have to give Curt Cignetti the Coach of the Year award.

No. 3 Ohio State vs. TBD

The Buckeyes still get a first round bye in the College Football Playoff per Pollack. But, they’ll finish as Big Ten runner ups to Indiana. Can’t believe we typed that!

In all seriousness, that looks like a toss up game right now. But Ohio State is loaded, 6-0 and still has an argument to be the best team in the country.

No. 4 Texas A&M vs. TBD

Texas A&M gets the final bye in the College Football Playoff projections here. Pollack has the Aggies winning the SEC right now, which puts them at, let’s say, 12-1 since they’re not the top seed.

But they’ve been impressive this year. QB Marcel Reed has really come into his own and Mike Elko seems to be pushing all of the right buttons in Year 2.
