Deion Burks injury update: Oklahoma WR's status revealed vs. South Carolina on Thursday injury report

The South Carolina Gamecocks and Oklahoma Sooners are going into their game in Norman on Saturday looking to bounce back from tough losses in SEC play. To do that, they’d both like to be as healthy as possible going into the game.
On Thursday, both sides shared their second injury report for the week. That includes several key players for both sides, like Oklahoma wide receiver Deion Burks. He missed Red River against Texas. Now, he’s hoping to be healthy enough to go against the Gamecocks.
With that in mind, here’s a look at the injury report for the South Carolina Gamecocks matchup with the Oklahoma Sooners.

Deion Burks came to Oklahoma with the expectation that he would have a massive impact on the Sooners’ offense this season. However, he’s only been able to play in four games this season, with his last game coming in September against Tennessee. There, he suffered a “soft tissue” injury. Still, he has 26 receptions for 201 yards and three touchdowns. Those all lead the team.
Wide receiver, in general, has been a point of concern at Oklahoma due to injuries. On the Wednesday injury report, the Sooners already knew they’d be without Jayden Gibson, Jalil Farooq, Nic Anderson, and Andrel Anthony. That’s at a time when the offense turned to a freshman quarterback. So, finding some health at the position is going to be very important moving forward.

On top of those injuries, Oklahoma is also listing multiple defensive backs and a defensive lineman as being out for this game. So, the Sooners’ depth is going to be tested across the board.
While Oklahoma has injury concerns, so does South Carolina. The Gamecocks listed five players as being out on Wednesday. Now, on Thursday, the team’s health is continuing to get clearer and clearer. That group of injuries, interestingly, includes multiple defensive backs. So, that could lessen the pressure on Oklahoma’s healthy wide receivers.
Coming into the game, Oklahoma is 4-2 on the season but just 1-2 in SEC play to open their first season in the conference. That includes a 31-point loss to rival Texas in their last time out while only scoring three points. Meanwhile, South Carolina lost a heartbreaking game to Alabama. With that, the Gamecocks fell to 3-3 on the season and just 1-3 in SEC play.
