Deion Sanders reveals his interest level in NFL coaching

Hall of Fame cornerback Deion Sanders has plenty of links to the NFL level but is he interested in testing out the highest level of professional football? Well, during an interview on the Dan Le Batard Show, on Thursday, the Jackson State head coach answered that question and then some.
“I don’t know about that, I don’t know about that one, I don’t know about that,” Sanders said. “I don’t want to coach pros. I’m not a pro guy, I don’t have patience for rich guys with problems. I don’t have patience for that, I don’t have patience for rich guys who don’t want to stay rich and continue to earn a check. I can’t do it,” Sanders said.
Sanders was known as a bit of a trash talker during his time in the NFL. And if he went back to coach there, that wouldn’t change too much.
“Because I would be sitting right up there by the office where they go get their checks watching them every Tuesday. [Saying] ‘You really gonna reach in there and get your check after what you just did on Sunday?’ I’m that kind of guy, I’m going to call it like I see it. It would be tough for me.”
Sanders had Power 5 suitors
Sanders was known for his amazing play on the field and off the field for his blunt but straightforward approach. And when it came to top FBS programs trying to pry him away from Jackso State, Sanders gave us the straightforward truth. During the same interview, Sanders also revealed that some big-name suitors did come knocking at his door.

“I interviewed for, I think, three Power 5 jobs, and I should have got them,” Sanders said. “I was very, very, very good if I may say in the interviews, I balled. One of the interviews I was so dern good, the guy asked me could I start, when could I start. At the conclusion of the interview, I’m not lying, when could you really start,” said Sanders.
“And I told him when it was possible and they went in another direction. I wasn’t upset, that just means that God wanted me to continue to be at Jackson State.”
Deion Sanders dominated the first phase of his career — his legendary playing career. Then, he was a fantastic member of the football media. Now, he’s looking to dominate in another act of his life — his career as a coach at the collegiate level. And so far this offseason, he’s off to a solid start after landing the No. 1 overall recruit in the country Suwanee (Ga.) Collins Hill Five-Star Plus+ athlete Travis Hunter. Sanders also picked up St. Louis (Mo.) St. Mary’s four-star wide receiver Kevin Coleman and there could be more top players on the way.
