Diego Pavia's brother arrested at Vanderbilt-Tennessee game at Neyland Stadium
While attending Saturday’s Vanderbilt vs. Tennessee game at Neyland Stadium, Diego Pavia’s brother was apparently arrested. He was escorted toward the tunnel by security and later seen with police by a van outside the stadium.
Pavia’s family was in the stands in Knoxville, as they traditionally are for Vanderbilt games. Later, Pavia’s brother was escorted out toward the tunnel. Details of the situation, including any potential charges, were not available at the time of publication.
Diego Pavia has become one of the biggest stories in college football this year while leading Vanderbilt to nine wins heading into Saturday’s rivalry game. He continued to shine against Tennessee, putting up 165 yards on the ground while throwing for 268 in the air to lead the charge.
All the while, he has put himself squarely in the conversation for the Heisman Trophy, and Vanderbilt coach Clark Lea made the case for his quarterback to win the award. Following last week’s win over Kentucky – which saw Pavia throw for 484 yards and five touchdowns – Lea made it clear his QB deserves to be in that mix.
“I’ve said this every week, but he’s the best player in the country,” Lea said. “(He) deserves to be in the Heisman conversation. He tips the field when he steps on it. There’s only a few players in the world that when the ball’s in their hand, if they can take over a game.

“He’s done that repeatedly here, and I think we’ve really found a chemistry and rhythm with what his skill set is and how we best put him in good positions. We did that tonight, and obviously his numbers reflect that.”
With a win Saturday, Vanderbilt had an opportunity clinch a 10-win season. Pavia is a big reason why, and Lea said his mindset impacts the entire roster as the Commodores look to also stay in the College Football Playoff picture.
“I’m happy for him. He deserves this,” Lea said. “My God, this is a guy that has been doubted every way you can be doubted and counted out, and all he’s done is bet on himself.
“He’s taken risks, he’s leaned into trust, he’s shown up and done the work. And I hope everyone’s paying attention. I know my children are. This guy is one of one, and he’s a great role model and a great team member, and we’re grateful for what he’s done for us.”
