DJ Uiagalelei injury: FSU QB leaves game following pick-six
Florida State quarterback DJ Uiagalelei left Saturday’s game against SMU in the fourth quarter due to a finger injury. Brock Glenn entered the game in his place.
Uiagalelei was taken to the injury tent with around 12 minutes remaining in the game to be evaluated. He was 12-of-30 passing for 222 yards, two touchdowns and three interceptions prior to his exit.
On the drive prior to his exit, Uiagalelei threw an interception resulting in a touchdown for the Mustangs. That play likely sealed the win for SMU, which went up 42-16 with 12:55 remaining.
That would be the score that the Mustangs would go on to win by as they started off their first season in the ACC 1-0 in conference play. As for Florida State, it dropped to 1-4 (1-3 ACC) on the year.
Uiagalelei has struggled mightily this season after transferring in from Oregon State. He has thrown for just four touchdowns to six interceptions across five games with a completion percentage of 53.8%.

Florida State is coming off of an undefeated regular season in 2023 but it’s clear the transition from Jordan Travis to Uiagalelei is causing some issues. The Seminoles have still remained committed to him at quarterback, but it will be interesting to see whether that changes going forward.
Glenn didn’t get much opportunity Saturday but failed to complete a single pass in four attempts. He started in both the ACC Championship and the Orange Bowl last season after Travis went down with injury.
Either way, something has to change quickly for Florida State as it is already in danger of falling out of bowl eligibility. The Seminoles next face Clemson in a Week 6 matchup.
