Drew Sanders announces transfer to the Arkansas Razorbacks

Former Alabama Crimson Tide linebacker Drew Sanders instantly became of the most coveted transfers the second he entered the transfer portal. Sanders, a former five-star recruit according to the On3 Consensus, quickly trimmed his list to Arkansas, Oklahoma and Texas. 

After making visits to the three finalists the last half of the week, the 6-foot-5, 245-pound athletic EDGE prospect announced he would play his final two seasons at Arkansas. 

Sanders departed Tuscaloosa with 33 tackles and one sack to his credit in two seasons. He saw his role increase, and suddenly decrease during the middle of the season. When linebacker Christopher Allen went down with an injury, Sanders was called upon to step into the role. Sanders totaled 24 tackles and a sack this season. 

However, an injury set him back and allowed Dallas Turner to breakout. Now, Sanders will be headed to Arkansas with increased playing time the objective.

Sanders was a national recruit out of high school

Coming out of Denton, TX, and Denton Ryan High School, Sanders was ranked the No. 25 overall prospect on the On3 Consensus. 

Within the state, only two players were ranked higher than him. Those were Ole Miss transfer running back Zach Evans and Texas A&M cornerback Jaylon Jones. Within the state, only two players were ranked higher than him.

Programs such as Arkansas, Georgia, LSU, Oklahoma, Alabama and Texas were among the schools to recruit Sanders out of high school. He was a long time commit for the Sooners before Alabama was able to securing a late flip.
