Unusual things occur in your average college football Saturday but this from Old Dominion might be something new as they face East Carolina. A crooked goalpost has taken over at S.B. Ballard Stadium, with the left side bending away and giving more room. Something kickers might be happy with, giving them a bigger target to aim at.

However, that would be viewed as an unfair advantage for whoever is lining up to attempt a kick. Especially late in the fourth quarter when the game could be on the line. Something had to be done in order to make the playing field even with the issue not being a quick fix.

The solution? Take every kick on the same side of the field, no matter the scenario. Both ECU and Old Dominion field goal attempts plus extra points will be at the same goalpost. So, even if a team is driving in the opposite direction, the special teams unit will head to the other side of the field for their kick.

At the time of posting, just two kicks have taken place in the game. Both teams have a touchdown but only Old Dominion has made their extra point. East Carolina kicker Andrew Conrad missed after scoring on their opening possession.

UPDATE: Goalpost is getting fixed during halftime

A fix has arrived to fix the goalpost at Old Dominion. A lift has been brought out to the field to get the alignment back. Not the usual halftime entertainment for the fans but a necessary move.

Thankfully, a normal football game will get to commence in the second half. There will be no struggle for the special team units as both goalposts plan to be functional. An exciting finish should be in store and hopefully, it comes down to a kick.
