The Miami Hurricanes have a big name cheering for them their game against Texas A&M Saturday night. In fact, it’s one of the Aggies’ former rivals.

Former LSU coach Ed Orgeron is in attendance at Kyle Field, proudly wearing an orange Miami polo to support the Hurricanes. His son, Cody, is an offensive analyst under Mario Cristobal, and he made the trip to College Station to support him.

“Go ‘Canes,” Orgeron said.

This isn’t the first time Orgeron appeared at a Miami function in Hurricanes gear. He also showed up at a football camp over the summer, sporting a Miami t-shirt and working with players. In addition, he took a trip to Notre Dame to visit Marcus Freeman and the Fighting Irish in April.

Ed Orgeron gives humorous new details on LSU exit

LSU was on top of the college football world in 2019, going on a magical national championship run under head coach Ed Orgeron. Just a couple of years later, the program was in a bad place, where athletic director Scott Woodward was forced to make a move.

The firing of Orgeron was not a cheap one for LSU, paying out the rest of his contract. He told the story of when Woodward told him that piece of information in hilarious detail. Because of the move, Orgeron continued to have the utmost respect for the Tigers’ AD and still considers him a friend.

“So grateful for my time at LSU,” Orgeron said. “That was my opportunity. Coaches have a shelf. Some coaches got 50 years, some coaches got 12. Mine was six. Good. I got to tell you — we had a meeting. They said ‘Coach, things are not going well.’ No ****. Ray Charles could see that, brother. And Scott Woodward is a friend of mine. A lot of respect for the way they handled me.

“He said ‘Coach, you got $17.1 million on your contract. We’re going to give it to you. I said ‘what time do you want me to leave and what door you want me out of, brother?’”
