The biggest couple in the college football world is currently LSU linebacker Whit Weeks and the daughter of Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin, Landry. An Instagram post set social media ablaze before Saturday’s game, announcing their relationship to the world. But one thing has been made certain — Landry Kiffin is cheering for her father to win.

Well, not everybody in the Weeks family took that news well. ESPN’s Sean McDonough shared a hilarious anecdote about Weeks’ younger sister, Kate, being upset with Kiffin over her rooting interests. In her mind, the boyfriend (and LSU) should win out.

“Whit told us his 12-year-old sister, the youngest of the four children in the family, is very upset that Landry is not cheering for Whit, her boyfriend,” McDonough said during the first quarter. “It’s blood you’re talking about, Landry and her Dad.”

Kate Weeks is in the building to watch her brothers play. The ESPN broadcast provided a shot of the entire family inside Vaught Hemingway Stadium. Thus far, it’s been a good effort from the LSU defense, attempting to stop a high-powered Ole Miss offense.

Families across the country deal with college football rivalries. Now, early in the Kiffin-Weeks relationship, there is already some back and forth.

Lane Kiffin gives thoughts on newest SEC relationship

While he’s been relatively mum on the new relationship, Lane Kiffin has hinted at it a few times already this week, including playfully posting a old photo of Landry as an infant with the caption: “Will be rooting for (the) Rebs!!!” on Monday. On Wednesday, the Ole Miss head coach finally shared his true feelings on his daughter’s new beau, and they were quite positive.

“Whit’s an awesome kid, comes from a great family, and I’m glad that those two are happy together,” Kiffin said Wednesday on the SEC Coaches Teleconference. “It has nothing to do with the game itself. It’s a really great family, and I think a lot of people got to see that on the SEC Special when they went hunting with the family.”

Weeks is a junior middle linebacker and a leader within LSU’s defense who earned first-team All-SEC honors last season after ranking second on the roster with 125 total tackles in 2024. Weeks currently ranks eighth on the team with 11 sacks through the first four games this season, though he only really played three games after a first-quarter targeting ejection two weeks ago against Florida.
