ESPN college football analyst Kirk Herbstreit released his weekly list of the nation’s top performers following an exciting week 3 of college football action. Washington quarterback Michael Penix Jr. topped Herbstreit’s list as his top performer of the week, as the former Indiana quarterback threw for 397 yards and four touchdowns in an upset win over No. 11 Michigan State.

The other five players that made Herbstreit’s list were Penn State running back Nick Singleton, Kansas quarterback Jalon Daniels, Appalachian State wide receiver Christan Horn, Florida State wide receiver Johnny Wilson, and Georgia tight end Brock Bowers.

It was a big week for pass catchers, as three made Herbstreit’s list this week. Wilson had a monster game for the Seminoles in their Friday night prime-time matchup against Louisville where he hauled in 7 receptions for 149 yards and two touchdowns, showing off his 6-foot-7 frame on various athletic catches.

Bowers also had two touchdown grabs in week 3, ending the day with 5 catches for 121 yards in the Bulldog’s dominant performance over South Carolina. Horn may have had the most underwhelming stat line on paper in the group with five catches for 98 yards and a touchdown, but his touchdown catch was on a 53-yard, go-ahead tipped hail marry pass on the final play of the game for the Mountaineers to steal a victory.

Singleton made the most of his carries as he ranked No. 2 on Herbstreit’s list, rushing for 124 yards and two touchdowns on just 10 touches, averaging 12.4 yards per carry in week 3. He’s gotten exactly 10 carries in each of the Nittany Lions three games this season, and may have been even more impressive in week 2 where he rushed for 179 yards against Ohio.

Daniels was the only other quarterback on the list to join Penix Jr. on the list, using both his arm and his legs in a 48-30 win over Houston. Daniels threw for 158 yards and three touchdowns for the Jayhawks, but also ended the game as their leading rusher with 123 yards on the ground and two touchdown runs, leading Kansas to their first 3-0 start since 2009.
