ESPN College GameDay announces country star Jelly Roll as guest picker for Georgia vs. Ole Miss

ESPN’s College GameDay has announced that country star Jelly Roll will be the celebrity guest picker for Week 8’s show in Athens, GA. That show comes ahead of Saturday’s Top 10 SEC showdown between No. 5 Ole Miss and No. 9 Georgia.
This weekend will mark Jelly Roll‘s first appearance as a guest picker on ESPN’s College GameDay. He becomes the latest in a long line of other country music icons, including Eric Church (three appearances), Kenny Chesney (three appearances), Brad Paisley (two appearances) and Darius Rucker (two appearances), to join the show.
Jelly Roll, whose real name is Jason DeFord, was on the sidelines last weekend for Tennessee‘s game against Arkansas. In just the past year, he has shown support for both the Volunteers and the Vanderbilt Commodores. Now, he’ll take his fandom to Athens for the showdown between the Bulldogs and Rebels.
In just a limited time, Jelly Roll has been nominated for two Grammy Awards and won three CMT Music Awards. Along with his musical career, he made his WWE debut this past August in a tag-team match alongside future WWE Hall of Famer Randy Orton. The duo lost to fellow celebrity/influencer Logan Paul and his tag partner, Drew McIntyre.

Winner of No. 5 Ole Miss/No. 9 Georgia could cement case for CFP
This year’s game between the Bulldogs and Rebels marks a rematch of last year’s meeting, which No. 16-ranked Ole Miss won 28-10. The loss marked Georgia‘s first loss to a non-Alabama team since Nov. 7, 2020.
“Ole Miss’ résumé is not great,” FOX Sports‘ Joel Klatt said this week. “A lot of one-possession games, the résumé is built on LSU right now, and we don’t really know what LSU is. We’ll find out more against Vandy. Georgia’s 50-2 in their last 52 games between the hedges. Obviously, they lost this year against ‘Bama, but there’s something about the resilience of this Georgia team. I’m going to say Georgia wins the game 27-24.”
This weekend’s edition of ESPN’s College GameDay will emanate from Georgia for the 12th time. The Bulldogs are involved in the show for the 42nd time. In those games, they are 21-20. Ole Miss is involved in College GameDay for the sixth time. It is 3-2 in its prior five appearances.
Kickoff for this weekend’s showdown is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. ET. The game can be seen on ABC.
