Florida State redshirt sophomore cornerback Ja’Bril Rawls is looking for a new home next season and will enter the NCAA Transfer Portal next month, according to On3’s Hayes Fawcett.

Rawls played in seven games in 2025, totaling 40 tackles, two tackles for loss, an interception and a forced fumble for the ‘Noles, who struggled to a 5-7 finish. However, he missed the team’s final four games of the season due to injury but was still one of their most productive players.

The 6-foot-1, 185-pounder also appeared in 11 games as a redshirt freshman in 2024.

As a reserve, he finished with 14 tackles and a career-best seven takedowns in FSU’s victory over Charleston Southern.

He was expected to be one of the program’s top returning starters next season for Mike Norvell, but will now hit the market as one of the most sought-after defensive backs in the country.

A native of Pensacola, Rawls starred on both sides of the ball at Pensacola Catholic before signing with FSU in the Class of 2023. According to the Rivals Industry Ranking, an equally weighted average that utilizes all three major recruiting services, he was tabbed as the nation’s No. 740 overall recruit and No. 71 safety.

He will have two years of eligibility remaining at his next school.

Rawls is the 10th player from FSU’s 2025 roster to announce their intentions to transfer, joining linebacker Jayden Parrish, offensive tackle Mario Nash, defensive lineman Tyeland Coleman, defensive lineman Jamorie Flagg, running back Jaylin Lucas, safety Edwin Joseph, defensive end LaJesse Harrold, wide receiver Camdon Frier, and cornerback Cai Bates.
