Florida WR Aidan Mizell plans to enter NCAA Transfer Portal
Florida redshirt sophomore wide receiver Aidan Mizell is headed into the NCAA Transfer Portal next month after three seasons in Gainesville, according to On3’s Hayes Fawcett.
An Orlando native, Mizell arrived as part of the Gators’ 2023 recruiting class, ranking as the nation’s No. 19 wideout. He saw action in two games as a freshman, recording two catches for 25 yards. He stepped into a larger role as a sophomore, catching 17 passes for 202 yards and two touchdowns, but overall the Gators’ offense struggled through the air after an injury to starter Graham Mertz and some growing pains with then-true freshman DJ Lagway at the helm.
Mizell returned in 2025 to a very crowded receiver room, and struggled to carve out a consistent role for a passing offense that was again one of the worst in the SEC.
Across eight games, he caught 19 passes for 177 yards and a touchdown while missing four contests due to injury.
He now plans to enter the transfer portal when it officially opens on January 2 with two seasons of eligibility remaining.

Hits keep coming for UF’s roster
Despite Billy Napier’s firing earlier this season, Florida had yet to see many defections from last year’s roster since new head coach Jon Sumrall was brought in.
But that’s beginning to change, as Mizell is the seventh Gators player to enter the portal in the past eight days. Some of the is the normal attrition that happens after a coaching change, but a few players from last year’s roster are on their way out.
In addition to Mizell, starting quarterback and former top-5 overall recruit DJ Lagway will be looking for a new home after two years in Gainesville. As will highly productive defensive back Jordan Castell, who notched 168 total tackles, 12 pass breakups, three interceptions and a sack over three seasons.
Two of UF’s top signees in the 2024 class — tight end Amir Jackson and running back KD Daniels — are also hitting the portal next month.
