Former Penn State star Daesean Hamilton makes NFL free agency decision

Former Penn State Nittany Lion DaeSean Hamilton has made a decision on what NFL franchises sign with during the offseason. Hamilton will head to the Lone Star State and play for the Houston Texans as the team announced on Monday. Unfortunately, at this time, the financial specifics of the deal have yet to be released by either the wide receiver or the Texans. But what is known, is the deal is for one year, according to ESPNs Aaron Wilson.

Hamilton is a 2018 fourth-round pick made by the Broncos out of Penn State. He has spent all three seasons in Denver since being drafted by them. Hamilton was expected to be traded by the Broncos last season, but a trade never happened due to an injury. Hamilton tore his ACL while working out during the offseason and finished the year on the non-football injury list. His time with the Broncos ends with a total of caught 81 passes for 833 yards and five touchdowns in 46 games.

After being released by Denver earlier in March, Hamilton begin to visit other franchises; one of which was the Texans. Now it appears as if those talks went well, as the two sides have agreed to terms on a deal.

Penn State projections for NFL draft

NFL.com Draft Analyst Chad Reuter released an updated four-round mock draft over the weekend, and it includes seven Penn State players.

Let’s take a look at the projections.

EDGE Arnold Ebiketie – 35th overall to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The first Nittany Lion in Reuter’s mock draft comes off the board early in the second round. Arnold Ebiketie posted a 4.65 40-yard dash at Penn State’s Pro Day last week. He also came up with a 4.24 time in the shuttle and a 6.95 in the L Drill after he didn’t partake in any of those events during the NFL Combine. No team had fewer sacks in the NFL last season than the Bucs — a deficiency Ebiketie should help fix.

S Jaquan Brisker – 47th overall to the Washington Commanders

Jaquan Brisker is a prospect that the draft analysts don’t seem to have a consensus on just yet. Rueter has him going in the middle of the second round to the Washington Commanders, who allowed the fourth-most passing yards in the NFL last season. Brisker ran a 4.43 40-yard dash at Pro Day last week.

WR Jahan Dotson – 49th overall to the New Orleans Saints

This is about as low as Jahan Dotson has fallen on any mock draft since the conclusion of the college football season. The sweet spot for the Penn State standout seems to be the late first round, but Rueter has him going in the middle of the second. The Saints certainly need wide receiver help, and the quarterback situation looks murky there, too. Dotson ran a 4.43 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine, electing not to give it another go at Pro Day.
