Four-star offensive tackle Lucas Simmons of Clearwater (Fla.) Academy International has locked in several official visits this summer.

The 6-foot-8, 265 pounder spoke with On3 about what he’s expecting from each visit and why each got an official.

“The fact of the matter is that I’m looking for the same things on each visit,” Simmons said. “I want to see if they treat me the same with other people around, are real with my parents, have a clear plan for me as a student and athlete, and I want to make sure I fit in with the guys in the program and position room.”

“The schools that got the [official visits] are the ones where I have the combination of the best relationships, opportunity, and comfortability.”

Lucas Simmons official visit plan

Simmons has already used one official visit to Oklahoma State. That trip took place in late April. Four more official visits are set for the summer.

First, Simmons will visit Tennessee for its huge Memorial Day recruiting weekend. Next, a trip to USC is scheduled for June 17.

Simmons will finally take his last two official visits in the Sunshine State. Florida will host Simmons mid-week on June 20 and Florida State will get him on campus June 24.

Simmons ranks as the No. 127 player in the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that accounts for all four major recruiting services. Additionally, he is ranked as the No. 11 offensive tackle, and the No. 25 player in the state of Florida.

Lucas Simmons on commitment timeframe

“Probably July-August,” Simmons said. “I’m doing it when I feel comfortable with my decision and I think I’ll be ready soon after my OV’s. But nothing set in stone yet.”
