College football broadcasting news that was reported back in the spring is now official. Former Heisman Trophy winner Robert Griffin III will be back in the booth, this time with FOX Sports.

FOX officially announced the hire on Wednesday, just days ahead of the 2025 season for most teams. Griffin will be on the call of the AuburnBaylor game on Friday night as his first bit of duty for the network.

“This opportunity with FOX Sports represents the perfect intersection of my two greatest passions – football and storytelling,” Griffin said. “I’m honored to join the FOX Sports family and excited to celebrate the game of football while working with some of the best people in the business telling the stories that matter.

“My goal is to bring that authentic perspective to every broadcast, helping fans understand not just what’s happening on the field, but why it matters and what it means to the young men chasing their dreams. Teaming up with Jason Benetti, whom I greatly respect, and working alongside Alexa Landestoy will be special.”

As announced by Robert Griffin III in FOX’s press release, he’ll be working alongside Benetti, the play-by-play announcer, and Landestoy, the sideline reporter, for the 2025 season. It should be quite the tandem.

Griffin is known for his often quirky takes on broadcast, but it’s impossible to deny that the drives the conversation. Love him or hate him, he seems to draw a broad following.

In recent years, Robert Griffin III has grown his podcast, ‘Outta Pocket with RGIII‘ into a formidable enterprise. As part of his deal with FOX, the podcast will be featured on FOX Sports/Red Seat Ventures.

Griffin co-hosts the podcast with his wife, Grete Griffin. Topics range across the spectrum in sports and include “incisive interviews with the industry’s biggest names.”

Robert Griffin III was a college superstar at Baylor from 2008-11. He threw for 10,366 passing yards and 78 touchdowns while rushing for 2,254 yards and 33 scores.

He was drafted No. 2 overall in the 2012 NFL Draft by Washington. He won the NFL’s Offensive Rookie of the Year award. He lasted nine years in the NFL, appearing in seven seasons.
