According to BetMGM, Alabama is a 3-point favorite against Missouri this weekend. On Wednesday, ESPN analyst Greg McElroy weighed in on the impending top-15 showdown.

“I’m taking Alabama, and it’s because they’re battle-tested. I would, however, take the points here,” McElroy said. “This might be Alabama’s toughest test of the entire season, especially when you take into account the two teams they’ve faced the last two weeks, going on the road to Georgia, coming back and playing against a quality Vanderbilt team at home, and now having to go on the road again against a top-15 outfit in the Missouri Tigers. I’ll take the Tide, but I think it’ll be close.”

Since suffering a 31-17 loss to Florida State in its season-opener, Alabama has been red-hot. The Crimson Tide have won four consecutive games, including ranked wins over Georgia and Vanderbilt in their last two outings.

McElroy likes the fact that Alabama is battle-tested. In contrast, Missouri hasn’t faced a ranked opponent yet this season. Though it’s worth noting the Tigers have faced several quality foes, including Kansas and South Carolina.

Nonetheless, McElroy is picking the Crimson Tide to win on Saturday. It’s difficult to blame him. Alabama made it look easy in its 30-14 win over Vanderbilt this past weekend.

In the win, Alabama quarterback Ty Simpson continued to shine, completing 23-of-his-31 pass attempts for 340 yards and two touchdowns, compared to one interception. Simpson was far from the only star on Alabama’s offense.

Running back Jam Miller tallied a team-high 136 rushing and a touchdown in Alabama’s triumph over the Commodores. Of course, Missouri won’t make it easy for Alabama to put up such monstrous numbers on Saturday.

The Tigers are only allowing 203.8 yards per game this season, the second least in the country. On offense, Missouri found a gem in transfer quarterback Beau Pribula, who has amassed 1,203 passing yards and 12 total touchdowns five games into the season.

In the backfield, Missouri quietly has a Heisman candidate in Ahmad Hardy. The sophomore running back has 730 rushing yards and nine scores this season.

On Saturday, Missouri will look to do more than cover against Alabama when they square off at 11 a.m. CT. The game will air live on ABC.
