No. 9 Georgia hosts No. 5 Ole Miss in a top 10 blockbuster matchup in the Southeastern Conference this Saturday. Despite the Rebels being undefeated heading into Week 8, the Bulldogs are favorites at home.

According to BetMGM, the Rebels are 7.5-point underdogs as they head to Athens. Before Saturday, ESPN’s Greg McElroy revealed which team he believes will cover, as well as his prediction for the marquee matchup.

“I’m taking Georgia and I’m laying the points in this game,” McElroy said on his show, Always College Football. “I love what I’ve seen so far from Georgia in stopping the run. I also think Georgia is an improving bunch on the perimeter. I don’t think they’re elite in the secondary, but i think they’re improving in the secondary.

“I think Ole Miss could become a little one dimensional. I also think that Georgia will be able to run the football and create some matchup advantages with their wide receivers on some downfield throws.”

Georgia’s secondary is currently allowing 215.5 yards per game, sixth from the bottom in the SEC. That won’t bode well for the Bulldogs on paper, as Rebels QB Trinidad Chambliss is the first Rebels quarterback since Eli Manning in 2001 to throw for at least 250 yards in each of their first four starts.

Since Georgia’s defense allowed 41 points against Tennessee in their SEC opener, the Bulldogs have allowed 16 points per game in their last three outings. It’ll be a hefty task slowing down Chambliss and the Ole Miss offense.

As for the Rebels, they’re looking to do something they haven’t done in three decades — defeat Georgia in consecutive seasons. Ole Miss defeated the Bulldogs in Oxford 28-10 in 2024. Despite Ole Miss’ win over UGA last year, the Bulldogs boast a 33-13-1 all-time record against the Rebels. Since 2000, Georgia is 8-2 against Ole Miss.

Kickoff between the Bulldogs and Rebels is set for 3:30 p.m. ET and ABC will carry the national broadcast. Additionally, the over/under is set at 54.5 total points.
