Report: Hank Goldberg, former ESPN personality, passes away at 82

“Hammerin'” Hank Goldberg was one of the most beloved television personalities around, which is why Monday tugs on the heart strings of so many in the sports and entertainment world.

According to multiple reports, Goldberg passed away on July 4 — his birthday. The former ESPN personality was 82-years old, and became popular through his unique reporting on sports like football and horse racing.

After hearing of the news, Andy Slater shared a photo of them together on Twitter, wishing him well.

Additionally, Kenny Mayne — a longtime journalist under the ESPN banner — shared a tremendous tribute to the Twittersphere.

“Hank Goldberg died today-on his birthday. We can honor him with our best stories of what we shared with him. I’m gonna play some races with him in mind & send the winnings to voter registration groups. Hank bet on both,” tweeted Mayne.

Goldberg moved from Miami to Las Vegas in 2018, where he appeared on ESPN’s “Daily Wager” sports betting show and worked for CBS Sports HQ and SportsLine.com, according to the Las Vegas Review Journal. He was still working in June, when he analyzed the Belmont Stakes.

In addition to his time at ESPN, Goldberg was a staple around the Miami sports scene, even hosting his own show on the radio in the area for years. He’s about as irreplaceable as they get, and lent his fantastic personality for the entertainment of millions throughout his life.

Moreover, Goldberg was huge for fans of the Miami Dolphins, as he covered the team for over a decade during his career. His most famous story came when he broke the retirement of one of the best of all time, coach Don Shula.

Hank Goldberg led a tremendous life, and touched the hearts of may throughout his fantastic career. The thoughts and prayers of the football and sports world are with his family and friends.
