Powder Springs (Ga.) McEachern High School senior Kaleb Webb is the latest breakout player in the Corky Kell Classic in Atlanta.

Last season, Oscar Delp of Cumming (Ga.) West Forsyth High School burst onto the scene with a big game after holding zero scholarship offers. Delp is now the 83rd ranked player in the On3 top 300 for the class of 2022.

Webb is an East Carolina commit.

He put up a four-touchdown performance in McEachern’s 53-20 win over Kell High School in the season-opening event, which was televised throughout the state.

The Power Five offers have since flooded in. Since the season opener , Webb has picked up offers from Tulane, Vanderbilt, Virginia, Georgia Tech, Tennessee and Kentucky.

First, Webb was thankful for having the opportunity to make plays.

“It’s a blessing to be in the position that I am in,” Webb said. “Last year I didn’t really get a chance to be incorporated into the offense as much. Our new offensive coordinator really gave me a chance to make a lot of big plays and be a primary part of the offense. That led to me getting some shine and schools pulling the trigger on me… It felt really good because I’ve been capable of that, but I just haven’t had the opportunity to show it. I thank my OC and quarterback for trusting me and having that faith in me to make big plays and affect the game the way that I did. It was really fun. It felt like a middle school game again.”

Will Kaleb Webb decommit?

East Carolina has been in contact with Webb a lot in the days following his flurry of college interest. The Pirates have asked Webb for honesty, though he hasn’t decided on decommitting. He is in a phase of evaluation that he plans to take his time with.

“I’ve been in contact with ECU a lot, especially with the new offers and they told me to stay patient and to be honest with them,” Webb said. “If I were to decommit or if I was entertaining other schools, they just asked that I be honest with them. I’ve been talking with my parents about if East Carolina is the right decision for me. I’ve been evaluating each school that has offered me. I’m kind of narrowing it down each down and every day down to the pros and cons and where I can see myself for the next three to four years.”

Webb says Tennessee and Kentucky have been recruiting the hardest. Both programs were in the mix this summer before they offered.

Webb camped at Tennessee on June 24. He was scheduled to make a trip to Kentucky, but the visit didn’t materialize in time to head to Lexington.

Webb will make trips to both Knoxville and Lexington this fall, though he hasn’t workout dates yet. He will be in Greenville soon. Webb is scheduled to attend East Carolina’s second game of the season when they host South Carolina on Sept.11.
