Indiana offers Texas Tech 3-star WR commit Tyler King

Houston Alief Taylor three-star wide receiver Tyler King snagged an offer from Indiana on Tuesday night.
King is a Texas Tech commit, and the offer comes one day after the Red Raiders fired head coach Matt Wells.
The wideout committed to Texas Tech in June and told 247Sports talked about the coaching staff.
“They didn’t really talk to me about football,” Tyler King said. “They talked to me about life and how I’m going to grow as a man and all the lessons I’ll be taught at Tech. They didn’t really talk about football until the last day.”
Who are the favorites to replace Matt Wells?
Matt Wells’ firing Monday came as a surprise to many, including Wells himself. While he had only a 13-17 record since taking over before the 2019 season, the Red Raiders had started off 5-3 this season — although only 2-3 in the Big 12.
Ivan Maisel wrote in his Tuesday Daily Briefing that leading the Red Raiders program is not an easy task.

“Matt Wells didn’t fit in Lubbock, and that’s no crime,” Maisel wrote. “Texas Tech is a tough job for the guys who do fit in. Spike Dykes went 82-67-1 from 1986-99, and they’ve all but built a statue for the man.”
Spike Dykes is the father of SMU head coach Sonny Dykes, and Maisel believes Sonny will be Texas Tech’s first choice.
Matt Zenitz said Dykes and UTSA head coach Jeff Traylor are the names that have been linked to the job the most since rumors of this potential opening started.
Zenitz also mentioned Ole Miss offensive coordinator Jeff Lebby as a potential option the Red Raiders will consider. Lebby is the son-in-law of former Baylor head coach Art Briles and brother-in-law of Arkansas offensive coordinator Kendal Briles. Both Art and Kendal have also been floated as potential full-time successors to Wells.
