The No. 29 overall player in the Class of 2022 On3 100, Isaac Traudt told On3 he’s committed to Virginia.

Traudt is the Cavaliers’ third commitment in the class, following four-star shooting guard Isaac McKneely and four-star small forward Leon Bond. Virginia has now landed three top-60 prospects, giving them a top-5 recruiting class for 2022.

Traudt, a 6-foot-10 power forward, plays for Grand Island (Neb.) Senior School. He chose the Virginia Cavaliers over North Carolina, Michigan State, Nebraska, Creighton, among others.

Isaac Traudt on why he chose Virginia

“It was a really tough decision but I felt Virginia was the right place in my heart,” Traudt said. “My relationship with Coach (Tony) Bennett and the staff was really important to me. Just how I think I’ll improve there, on the court and off the court, and even spiritually. Coach Bennett is big on his faith like I am. I think he will help me grow in that aspect as well. Coming in with guys like Isaac McKneely and Leon Bond, I’ve gotten close to them over the last couple of weeks or so…that definitely played a big part too. Obviously (Virginia’s) winning tradition and play style we’re big factors too.”

What sold Traudt on Virginia?

“Definitely my visit there in June,” Traudt said. “It just kinda stood out. I loved everything about it. Just a family atmosphere, the campus was amazing, the coaching staff was great, so I think it’s going to be a really good situation for me.”

How did HC Tony Bennett and commits Isaac McKneely, Leon Bond react?

“They were super excited,” Traudt said. “(Isaac and Leon) made a group chat right away. It was really cool. Isaac has been recruiting me for a while now. We were roommates at the NBPA Top 100 camp. We just got really close then.”

“Coach (Tony) Bennett was super pumped,” Traudt said. “He was really happy, I could tell. He said I will be a great fit there and just flourish under his system.”

What’s Traudt most excited about?

“Just improving my game and learning from the best,” Traudt said.
“Coach Bennett is one of the best in the business. He’s got some great guys on his staff. So I think just improving my game every way I can will be big for me because I’ve never really had that type of coaching, at that level.”
