Following his visit to Vanderbilt on Wednesday alongside comedian Theo Von, streamer IShowSpeed got to break the huddle. As he did so, Diego Pavia gave him two options: Say “Win” or “F*** South Carolina.”

The Commodores, of course, are getting ready to take on the Gamecocks this weekend. Pavia’s suggestion caught IShowSpeed by surprise, and he asked what South Carolina did. The Vanderbilt quarterback said the program is “in the way of the mission.”

Ultimately, IShowSpeed broke the huddle with “Win on me, win on three” on Wednesday. It capped off a visit to campus ahead of an intriguing SEC showdown in Week 2.

Both Vanderbilt and South Carolina take 2-0 records into Saturday’s primetime matchup in Columbia. The Commodores picked up a huge power conference victory last time out against Virginia Tech, defeating the Hokies 44-20 on the road. Pavia had a strong performance, completing 12 of 18 passes for 193 yards and two touchdowns while taking a team-high 11 carries for 61 yards on the ground.

It’s also a rematch of a game that turned out to be a turning point for Vanderbilt a season ago. The Commodores trailed just 7-0 at halftime, but South Carolina got things going after the break to come away with the 28-7 victory. From there, Vanderbilt lost its ensuing two games before winning the bowl game against Georgia Tech.

Clark Lea remembers the moments after that game, which presented an opportunity for the Commodores to get another marquee victory. He said the team mentioned it, as well, and looked at the halftime speech as a pivotal moment that day.

“It was really painful,” Lea said of the loss. “In fact, we’ve talked about it. I’ve used that halftime as the moment that defined that stretch of games for me because I lost it going in because I didn’t hear the spirit and energy in the room. That’s not because we don’t have spirited and energetic players, I think this was the starting point of this idea of ‘I’ve got to help this team sustain performance longer.’ Because in those moments, you cannot find it. It’s either there or not. It’s a helpless feeling.”

Vanderbilt and South Carolina will help highlight a loaded Week 3 slate of games. Kickoff is set for Saturday at 7:45 p.m. ET on SEC Network.
