Jacob Cofie, one of the top big men on the west coast, has narrowed his list of schools down to four. Moving forward, the 6-foot-9, 225-pound rising senior out of Sammamish (Wash.) Eastside Catholic will consider Ohio State, USC, Virginia, and Washington.

The four-star power forward has taken one official visit to Washington and has scheduled his second to Virginia on September 8th. He’s also aiming to visit Ohio State on September 16th, but the trip still needs to be finalized.

According to the On3 Industry Rankings, Cofie is the No. 97 overall prospect in the 2024 cycle. He’s also the No. 17 power forward prospect and the No. 1 player in Washington. The On3 Industry Ranking is a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Jacob Cofie breaks down his finalists

Ohio State: “Ohio State has been in contact with me for a long time. I talk to coach Jake (Diebler) very often. He always checks up on me, supports me by coming to my games and gives me pointers on things to improve and work on. Coach (Chris) Holtmann was very transparent with me: ‘Young hardworking players have a shot to play if they deliver’. Great program overall with a good reputation.”

USC: “USC is known for developing guys like me to have successful careers. They have invested a lot of time coming to support me at my highschool and EYBL games. Coach Jay (Morris) is a straight shooter and always honest with me. USC has a great program that has developed many players to the next level.”

Virginia: “Virginia started recruiting me late and saw me at Peach Jam and loved my game. Since then, they have spent a lot of time viewing my tapes and truly believe I have a lot to bring to the UVA roster. Coach Tony Bennett sees things that they could do to help me expand my game and develop me to play at the next level. They have a program that wins many games.”

Washington: “UW has been recruiting me since my freshman year of highschool and Coach (Mike) Hopkins has believed in me for many years. They always show up for me. The entire Husky staff has been supportive of me. Showed several ways I can fit into their system and how I could stand out.”

While Cofie does not have a commitment date in mind, he says he would like to make a decision by the end of September or the beginning of October.
