Ahead of Saturday’s monstrous showdown in Athens, ESPN’s Holly Rowe provided a couple of key injury updates. One goes in favor of Alabama, while Georgia is set to take the field without an important offensive lineman. Starting with the Crimson Tide, Rowe says running back Jam Miller is set to play.

“Jam Miller was expected to be their feature back this season but he has yet to play until tonight after dislocating his collarbone,” Rowe said during halftime of LSUOle Miss. “I talked to him on Wednesday and he’s so excited to play. He’s been able to do a lot of lifting, a lot of lower-body conditioning. So he’s, literally, ready to hit the ground running.”

Through four games, Alabama has not found much consistency on the ground. Miller being out is certainly a factor but for the most part, Ty Simpson‘s presence is what makes Kalen DeBoer‘s offense move at the moment. Getting Miller back in the lineup could wind up being a massive boost.

Last year was a career one for Miller, receiving 145 carries. His 668 rushing yards wound up being second on the team, only behind quarterback Jalen Milroe. The now-Seattle Seahawks quarterback also led Alabama in touchdowns with 20. Miller, alongside now-Michigan running back Justice Haynes, recorded seven each.

Georgia set to rotate players at right tackle

Rowe then delivered brutal news for the Georgia offense. Earnest Greene misses out due to injury and now gives the Bulldogs some decisions to make at right tackle. Multiple players are expected to contribute, although they did struggle at times against Tennessee.

“These are words you never want to hear in your life as a coach,” Rowe said. “Right tackle by committee. Their right tackle with the most experience, Earnest Green, he is out tonight. So, you will see a rotation of three guys.”

Greene last played in the Tennessee game on Sept. 13. He did not appear in Georgia’s win against Austin Peay and a bye week provided him some extra time to recover. Even so, Greene is not healthy enough to get out there against Alabama. Juan Gaston is now expected to start at right tackle, giving him the first chance.

Kickoff in Athens is quickly approaching. ABC will broadcast the game, as Chris Fowler and Kirk Herbstreit join Rowe on the call. Everyone is hoping the showdown fits the billing of last year’s thriller inside Bryant-Denny Stadium.
