Jam Miller injury update: Alabama RB taken to locker room after big hit vs. Missouri

Jam Miller took a massive hit from a Missouri defender during the fourth quarter of Saturday’s Week 7 matchup. Miller appeared to take a hit to the head, and remained on the ground for an extended period.
Miller eventually returned to his feet after being tended to my medical staff. He was helped to the locker room after the play and did not return to the game on Alabama‘s following drive. No targeting was called on the play despite the nature of the hit.
At the time he was injured, Miller totaled 20 carries for 85 yards on the play. His longest rush on the afternoon went for 12 yards. Fellow RB Kevin Riley will likely get the bulk of carries in his absence, though Daniel Hill scored the Crimson Tide’s touchdown on the following drive. It remains to be seen if Miller will return to the game.
While it remains to be seen what the extent of it is, the injury is a frustrating one for the senior RB. He was forced to miss the first few games of the season for Alabama while nursing a collarbone injury.
Miller’s injury stems from an incident during Alabama’s final preseason scrimmage and underwent a procedure that same day August 16th. There was hope Miller would only miss the non-conference portion of their schedule with their first game in SEC play being against the Georgia Bulldogs. He emerged against Vanderbilt last week, however, rushing for 136 yards and a touchdown against the Commodores.

Last season, Miller emerged as a major player in the Crimson Tide’s rushing attack. He logged career-highs across the board with 145 carries for 668 yards and seven touchdowns.
Miller is the latest injury that the Crimson Tide suffered during Saturday’s matchup. QB Ty Simpson notably had an injury scare after taking a sack that resulted in a fumble. He limped to the sideline in the third quarter but did not miss a snap after returning for the following drive.
He did not return to the game after the injury. However, the Crimson Tide would hold on to defeat Missouri 27-24 after a late defensive stop. The victory improves Alabama to 5-1 after dropping its first game of the season against Florida State.
