Jam Miller injury update: ESPN reveals Alabama RB hobbled to locker room on crutches

Alabama running back Jam Miller was injured on Saturday night in the Iron Bowl contest against rival Auburn. He was shaken up midway through the fourth quarter.

Miller is apparently out for the game. The ABC broadcast booth shared the latest on him while discussing a key play in the game.

(Daniel) Hill is the back and they’re going to have to go the rest of the way, it appears, without Jam Miller, who hobbled on crutches to the Alabama locker room while all this was unfolding on the previous play,” announcer Chris Fowler said.

At the time of his injury, Jam Miller was the leading rusher for the Tide. He had logged 15 carries for 83 yards — notching a nice 5.5 yards per carry clip. Alabama was tied 20-20 with about six minutes remaining in the contest.

If the talented running back is out for any extended period for Alabama it could be significant. The Crimson Tide will advance to next week’s SEC Championship Game with a win.

On the season, Jam Miller has accounted for 410 yards rushing and three scores, while also catching 16 passes for 96 yards. Alabama has not been able to consistently generate a ground game in recent weeks, and losing its top back would likely only further exacerbate the issue.

Alabama defensive back ejected

In addition to the Jam Miller departure from the game, Alabama has also been hit by a targeting ejection in the secondary. That thinned the ranks there.

Alabama is going to spend the latter half of the second quarter defending a lead in the Iron Bowl. Auburn is hoping to break its own seal, driving down the field due to some big runs. Now, a penalty has greatly benefited the Tigers and even cost the Crimson Tide a player.

Cam Calhoun has been ejected from the game due to a targeting call. Not one initially called on the field, the booth buzzed down after watching a couple replays. The Alabama defensive back learned his fate shortly after, no longer being allowed to play in this one.

Calhoun will miss the first half of the SEC Championship Game as a result. Will Jam Miller as well? Anxious times in Tuscaloosa.
