Former James Madison freshman All-American D’Angelo Ponds has heard from 22 schools since entering the NCAA transfer portal, he tells On3’s Hayes Fawcett.

Those schools include the following:

Auburn
Miami
Tennessee
USC
Arizona
Duke
Vanderbilt
Indiana
Illinois
Wake Forest
SMU
Indiana
Boston College
Houston
Memphis
Georgia Tech
Virginia Tech
Florida Atlantic
Cincinnati
Pitt
UConn
Tulsa
Tulane

Playing his high school ball in the Miami area, it goes without saying that the Hurricanes are interested in his services. FAU is the only other school from his home state that are currently seeking his commitment, meaning teams like Florida and Florida State are passing up on the top transfer left in this year’s cycle.

Ponds had an incredible season for James Madison in 2023, and was named an On3 True Freshman All-American. He totaled 52 tackles, 12 passes deflected, two interceptions and a fumble recovery.

D’Angelo Ponds played high school football at Chaminade-Madonna Prep (FL), where he was a three-star prospect. He was the No. 2023 overall recruit in the 1,638 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, which is a proprietary algorithm that compiles ratings and rankings from all four primary recruiting media services.

James Madison wide receiver Nakai Poole enters Transfer Portal

Moreover, James Madison Dukes wide receiver Nakai Poole has also entered the Transfer Portal. He previously played for the Mississippi State Bulldogs.

To this point in his college career, Poole has not recorded a stat in a game. He initially entered the Transfer Portal to leave Mississippi State in November of 2023, shortly after the program moved on from head coach Zach Arnett. He’s re-entering after going through spring practice at James Madison, without playing a game.

Nakai Poole played high school football at Norcross (Georgia), where he was a three-star prospect. He was the No. 880 overall recruit in the 2023 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

As a senior in high school, Poole had 53 catches for 803 yards and eight touchdowns. He also had 16 carries, with five going for touchdowns that season. He did play both ways in high school and had 10 tackles and recovered a fumble as a senior before signing with the Bulldogs out of high school.
