Jaylon Braxton, Jamarion Wilcox injury update: Ole Miss, Kentucky give surprising news on key players

The first SEC injury report of the season has been released ahead of Ole Miss‘ road trip to Kentucky this weekend. There are several players out for both programs.
Ole Miss and Kentucky also have several players each under the questionable tag, meaning their status could go either way between Wednesday and Saturday. 18 players total across both teams appear on the list. Here’s how the initial report shakes up.

For the Rebels, it’ll be interesting to see whether Jaylon Braxton can go this weekend. Ever since his arrival this offseason in Oxford, fans have been excited to see what he was capable of. However, after appearing in just two games last season due to injury with his previous program, he was out once again during Week 1 due to a health matter. His status remains to be seen heading into the back half of game week.
Meanwhile, Kentucky would like to get Jamarion Wilcox in their lineup. However, there’s no timeline for his return. Wilcox, Kentucky’s leading rusher from one year ago, is not injured. Instead, he’s suspended from the team indefinitely due to an ongoing domestic violence investigation.

Kentucky head coach Mark Stoops said Wilcox’s status has not changed. Elsewhere in the Kentucky injury report, Humphrey-Grace was injured during the season opener against Toledo and did not return after hurting his ankle.
Both programs appear to be nursing the injury bug, which is unfortunate for this early in the season. While both Ole Miss and Kentucky would like to be at 100% for the matchup, both programs are excited to play against each other on the gridiron.
One year ago, unranked Kentucky would go to Oxford to knock off a top-10 ranked Ole Miss team after a late defensive stop saw the Rebels miss a game-tying field goal late in the fourth quarter. Kentucky would go on to win 20-17.
Kickoff between the Rebels and Wildcats is set for Saturday afternoon. For information such as the opening point spread, as well as how to watch the SEC opener can be found here.
