As Washington got ready for Saturday’s LA Bowl against Boise State, Huskies head coach Jedd Fisch received a question about whether he still expects to be in Seattle next season. He made it clear he plans to be at UW in 2026.

Washington secured a spot in the LA Bowl after going 8-4 during the regular season, Fisch’s second at the helm. However, his name has come up in coaching rumors throughout this cycle.

During his National Signing Day press conference, Fisch said he planned to be Washington’s head coach in 2026. When asked Friday if that was still the case after the last few days, he reiterated that statement.

“Yeah, I expect to be here,” Fisch told reporters during his LA Bowl press conference. “Yeah.”

Fisch has a 14-11 record at Washington after taking over for Kalen DeBoer last year. His arrival came after a three-year turnaround at Arizona, where the Wildcats went from a 1-11 record in his first season in 2021 to a 10-3 mark in 2023.

But as the coaching carousel spun, Fisch’s name has come up in rumors. Most recently, he has been floated as someone to watch for the Michigan head coach opening after Sherrone Moore’s firing this week. Moore was terminated for cause after a university investigation found evidence of an inappropriate relationship with a staff member, which not only violated the terms of his contract, but also school policy.

Fisch previously worked at UM as the Wolverines’ quarterbacks coach, wide receivers coach and pass game coordinator from 2015-16. He also appeared on On3’s Pete Nakos’ Michigan Hot Board earlier this week as the Wolverines got their search underway.

Earlier in his press conference, Jedd Fisch received a question about how he and his team stay focused as rumors swirl. He made it clear the program kept its focus on the upcoming bowl game amid the noise.

“We’ve spent a lot of time just talking about what this season has looked like and what we can accomplish here, getting our ninth win,” Fisch said. “Taking over a program a year ago that was – really, we only had one returning starter. And getting to a bowl game last year, we really felt like we wanted to get progress this year.

“Getting to be 8-4 in the Big Ten, being able to be 3-2 on the road and then, be able to be in a position where now, we’re playing our ninth game back here, we haven’t spent any time focused in on what people are saying and the outside noise regarding me or other coaches on our staff. We know that’s the world we’re in right now. We know our players are being talked about or talked to by other teams, and we just have to really stay focused on the task at hand, which is the game tomorrow.”
