Jeff Landry fires back at Mississippi governor over shot at Lane Kiffin
The Lane Kiffin story has reached national news and then some. Government officials have even spent time commenting on the head coach leaving Ole Miss for LSU. Which, in fairness to the Tigers, seeing Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry involved in this coaching cycle is nothing new.
But this time, a lot of LSU fans are likely on Landry’s side when it comes to his latest tweet. Landry was firing back at the Mississippi Governor. Tate Reeves quote-tweeted Eli Manning, who was originally joking about running into Kiffin as he was leaving Oxford for the airport, saying, “The world needs 1) More Eli 2) Less Lane.”
Landry got involved with what appeared to be a homemade video with Look at Me Now by Chris Brown playing. At the very end, Landry pops up on the screen to say “Geaux Tigers.” You can check out the full exchange between the two here.
As mentioned, Landry and Reeves will get to see each other sometime next fall inside Vaught Hemingway Stadium. Ole Miss welcomes LSU to Oxford in what should make up one of the more hostile atmospheres in college football history. Kiffin will be returning to the place he left, adding on to what is an intense rivalry at times.
Until then, going back and forth on social media will have to do for now. Especially if Landry is going to continue to produce these type of videos.

More on Jeff Landry, early involvement in LSU coaching search
Landry got involved in the LSU coaching search from the beginning. His name popped up constantly as the program was in the process of firing Brian Kelly. A lot of talk came about the type of contracts being given out to coaches out there, since LSU was about to pay Kelly a hefty buyout fee.
Eventually, Verge Ausberry was named the LSU athletic director and conducted the process of finding Kelly’s replacement. After a long waiting game, Kiffin wound up being the guy. Storylines have snowballed since then, mainly that Kiffin will not be coaching Ole Miss through the College Football Playoff.
Kiffin is, instead, beginning the early stages of his time in Baton Rouge. National Signing Day came and went on Wednesday, with LSU having a productive day. As of Thursday evening, all but three players from the recruiting class are signed. However, No. 1 overall prospect Lamar Brown is one of them.
